WORK HISTORY:

I have been involved in the writing, editing and art design fields since well before 1980. I have won several prestigious writers awards for both poetry and prose. My published writing and editing credits include local and national newspapers, print and Internet magazines, and fiction and non-fiction short stories, novellas, novels and books. I also have copy edited and ghost written fiction and non-fiction manuscripts for several aspiring, technical and academic authors, many of whom have been multiply published. And I've written and edited articles, ad copy, business letters, sales letters, proposals for e-books and documents for various Internet-based companies and organizations. These are among my finest completed projects, and I have multitudinous life experiences to work from for you as well. I also now help authors find a literary agent or commercial publisher for their completed book manuscripts.

Our hundreds of published feature, news and other articles are too lengthy to list herein, and are also held under strict copyright status laws due to many of them being ghost written works. However, I will show you a sampling of my personal portfolio on the third page of this website.

RELATED EXPERIENCE:

I am a proud member of several writers and editors organizations, including "The National Association of Women Writers," with which I'm affiliated; "Today's Woman," a prestige group of poetry writers who "bring poets together"; "Working Writers," a discrete, highly discriminating and limited-membership group of working writers, editors, and publishers; "Copy Editors," an Internet-based group devoted solely to the fine art of copy editing; "Writerfind" of New Zealand, where I list as a copy editor, editor, and ghost writer; "TFG" of New York City, where I work occasionally as a ghost writer; "The eWriters' Guild," which is described as 'a society of talented and noteworthy writers of the Web'; "Freelance Writers," which is for all kinds of sophisticated freelancers; "Authors Den," of which I am a Bronze Member; "Writing.com," where my review work averages 4.65 out of 5 stars; and the "Comic Writing and Humour" and "Journalism" groups of Write Words, a premier writers association of the UK. I was accepted for membership in a highly exclusive group of writers and other creative artisans called "Phenomenal Women of the Web," and was welcomed into their upper circle, becoming the "Epitome of a Phenomenal Woman." Also, I was active in Simply Enchanting Angels, a philanthropic women's group of the Web. I joined Mike's Writing Workshop, and I am also an ongoing member of GreatReporter.com, where many of our very best filed Internet worldwide news stories are kept. I am currently listed with Daylo, WriteSight and WritersNet. I am an Expert Author at Ezine Articles, having attained their Platinum (10% of the Expert Authors) membership, which is only given without fee being paid to a few writers who submit their articles to this content-driven service. And I am also an Expert Author at ArticleClick.com, where I am multiply published.

I have contributed several articles and corrections to Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia. I successfully entered and corrected an article on RSS codes and one on Center Park, the first apartment building in the United States built specifically for people with handicaps. I have written several service related blogs which are getting high Google rankings, and will be writing several more. One of my best blogs, which is hosted by Google Blogger, features fanfiction I wrote about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. This is among other Movement related stories involving disability rights and a story I wrote about the Ripper murders - where I tell you the actual secret identity of Jack the Ripper. I also host a blog called "Serious World Politics," where I inform people about the hideous issue of small concentration camps in America - they're there, and everyone's in danger from them. These blogs are: http://drmartinlutherkingjr2007.blogspot.com/ and http://seriousworldpolitics.blogspot.com/

I was also taken on as an in house poet by "Literary Magic" online literary arts magazine. They host my brief biography and occasionally take my story contributions. I was also a poet at another online literary arts magazine, "The Jimson Journal," which sadly recently folded. But you can look up our work there, as it's still stored online. And I was nominated for membership in the International Society of Poets, which I may finally go ahead and join, being one of their Poet Fellows. Lastly, I'm a member in good standing of the Canadian Federation of Poets, where they run my brief biography.

RECENT PUBLISHED CREDITS:

Note:

You may purchase my (and our team's) ghost written books through Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, as well as other planetary book venues. Several of the books I have written or edited do not have my name anywhere on the cover, as I am a ghost writer, although it might be somewhere within the book. Sometimes I am credited as the book's "editor," even though I wrote most or all of the book myself. Also, I am not allowed to talk about certain books in detail, such as the one I copy edited for a famous university professor, due to ethical reasons.

Ghost writers are not supposed to have written "their" books themselves. Each book is seen as the sole property of the book's original author, which is usually you. The authors of the books are sometimes cited as the people who hire us to write them, but you don't have to give your ghost writer any credit whatsoever. This is perfectly legal - and is done with the full consent of both author and ghost writer. It's considered to be a paid job of work done discretely and professionally, with full copyrights staying with the book's author. But most of our clients don't mind crediting me or us with some work - as I have over thirty years' experience as a pro freelance book manuscript ghost writer, copy editor, proof reader, rewriter, cowriter and coauthor - and our other writers and editors are typically just as experienced.

I have some 150 books out, which I have worked on with many other people. Some were written by me; most were ghost written or copy edited and rewritten by me; and some were only helped out on, advised on, researched for, analyzed and/or proof read by me. These are all nonetheless to my credit, published and not published, on and off the market, and visible or otherwise when it comes to my being able to cite them. It's simply that in 90% of the cases, I received no written credits for my work. For example, I helped out on "A Life Less Ordinary," which was made into a blockbuster movie.

I have five of my own books published, but the credits for them all run under another name, to which I have since sold the rights to Harlequin Books. I have coauthored several novels where my name is nowhere on the credits, but I performed most of the job - from preliminary to finishing work. Sometimes I appear as the book's "Editor" somewhere, but in most cases, especially in my pre-Internet work, I'm not shown at all. It's become more of a standard practice nowadays to credit the ghost writer.

For example, a typical Spartan book credit for me runs within the Acknowledgements page: "I couldn't have done this without the help of my faithful editor, Karen Cole Peralta." I tend to get mentioned as a coworker with family and friends, which is a nice "homey" style of credit. But in many cases, I don't even get mentioned in the Acknowledgements. Lots of my clients want to be seen as their book or other work's only writer, which is fine with me. As long as I'm paid for my work, I'm happy. And it's not seen as a dishonest practice - you are simply paying me to assist you with your own writing. I consider it good marketing, my livelihood, and the privilege of the author, who either simply didn't have time to write a book or had plenty of good ideas and no way to cogently or grammatically express them in the English language. I make my living from working on your own original work, and improving it. So I don't always need full or even partial credit for what I do for you - you are the true author of your own work.

Thus, the below is a partial list of credits, although many of my client authors have been willing to list references as long as I detail exactly what I did for them. On the other hand, I once helped out on a book about a male celebrity, a famous radio "shock jock," and I'm not allowed to say what I did, nor am I allowed to cite that book's title. Either case is typical of my clients nowadays. I have also proofed, edited, written, researched, helped out on or rewritten portions or all of the contents of the books listed below, not to mention the list of some high points of my other published works.

Starting in 2006 in particular, I have been outsourcing (to our capable professional team) many of the ghost writing and copy editing jobs that come into this company, as well as graphics, search engine optimization, website creation and other jobs. But when it comes to my own work: I rewrote an artist's statement for a famous graphics artist, near the end of 2007; I copy edited, rewrote and proof read a book on general sales techniques and another book about a system for winning at horse races in late 2007; I proof read a Russian textbook on a new method of reaching the minds of small children in the summer of 2007; and I was the lead ghost writer for a promotional literature in-house manual, published by a company on Madison Ave., NYC, in the beginning of 2007. As for outsourcing, I have sent a book out to one of our capable "ghosts" this year concerning CIA activity in South America, and am always sending out other projects. Please inquire with us at our email address if you are interested in becoming one of our ghost writers. But be warned - we only take those with proper educational and experience credentials. However, we will consider very talented beginners with the proper education and some related experience credentials, after carefully reviewing your related work and good references.

When it comes to books for which I have been a ghost writer, there are several. For example, one I'm quite proud of, "AC 666" - I can't list the real title - was authored by CO III and ghost written mostly by me. It was published in both New York and Washington State. The book is a factually based and highly technically detailed science fiction novel, involving time travel, Mars, religion, conspiracy theory, space aliens, and real life current nanotechnology, not to mention cutting edge rocket science. It's set to be made into a major motion picture, when and if the many deals involving it come through. It was first published in 2005 and then in 2006, when the promotional ad campaign on it began. It's been mentioned on TV several times, and was promoted on "Hannity and Combes." The author is a multimillionaire, and I can't wait for the movie to finally premiere- we are all holding our breaths on this one.

I am now going to list some of my recent book and other credentials here, although this list is in no way complete. I've worked on some 200-300 books, screenplays and other works over the course of my 30-year-long career, but I can't list many of these ghost written works due to my clients asking me to keep them "ghosted" and unpublicized. I can tell you that 25-50 of my ghost written and edited books have become national and international best sellers, though I can't list them here. My authors want to retain full credit for their work in many of my ghost writing cases.

I have to admit this list of my recent work, which since I've attained Internet status I may now publish, is really one long run-on sentence - which is all right within this resume: a non-fiction book concerning the memoirs of a Mafia "made man" who single-handedly destroyed the Mob in his hometown, completion scheduled for August 2008; a non-fiction book on yoga by a Singapore teacher, rewritten and further researched by me, completed in May of 2008; "Timeless Wisdom," a book of wonderfully wise quotes on success strategies, by João de Saldanha, copy edited and with additional research performed by me, completed in December 2007; "The Boys of Birmingham," by P. L. Ryan and copy edited, rewritten and additional research done by me, about how Ryan's father led the FBI team that captured Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassin James Earl Ray, to be completed by January 2008; "The Tin Gods," a book about how corporations rule us, by Dave Taylor, copy edited and rewritten by me, project begun in mid 2007, to be completed in 2008; "Maid of Heaven: The Story of St. Joan of Arc," a book length poem by Ben Kennedy, proof read by me, published in mid 2007; "Blending Botany and Budo," about martial arts and Chinese herbology, by Thomas Joiner, copy edited and proof read by me, published in 2006; "AC 666," a heavily researched science fiction novel based on much factual data by CO III, ghost written and doubly proof read by me and assisted with new material by a team of others, first published in late 2004, republished in early 2005; a fact-based fiction book about a Caribbean woman's hard life, written by a Haitian-American university professor, published in 2004; "Love's Dark Kiss," a dark fantasy novel by Michelle Krogh, copy edited and rewritten by me, published in 2005; "Escape Into Hell," a mystery crime thriller by Vincent DeCampo, copy edited and rewritten by me and published in mid 2004; "A Tale of Pangaea - Thais," a Latin based fantasy novel by Christopher Brown, edited and rewritten by me, published in 2004; "DevilGod" and "Sarlakk," an adult dark fantasy novel and an adult science fiction novel, both by the famous artist Claudia San Luis, rewritten by me, published in 2004 and 2005 (I have also rewritten a short story for her, and she is going to hire me to rewrite three of her children's books); "A Life Less Ordinary," a modern youthful autobio, partially rewritten by me, published in late 2004, eventually made into a blockbuster movie; "Dragon Valley," a fantasy children's chapter book by Jack Orr, ghost written by me, published in 2004; "Why is America so Fat?" a medical information book by Ben Kennedy, edited by me, published in 2004; "Forever Young and Beautiful," a book about health, beauty, nutrition and childcare by Joanne Parrotta, researched and rewritten by me, published in mid 2004; several short stories and poems for various issues of "The Jimston Journal" online literary arts magazine in 2006 and 2007; an article published by Woman's Corner Magazine, their March 2006 issue; several articles on various topics both written and edited by me, or written by others and edited by me, published in various print and Internet venues; website copy for various clients; an article/blog called "The Sims Online Hosts the Mafia," which it does, published in a variety of venues; an article/blog on RSS, Atom, ROR and Google Sitemap XML/RDF codes for WebProNews, the Internet newsletter for serious webmasters; ad copy for e-books from Thomas Wallace of Human Imagineering; two ghost written science fiction stories, which were sold in PDF format on the Internet; several articles for newspapers, including “Seattle Downtown News,” “Single’s Life,” and “FishHeads,” all of the USA; articles on various subjects for the USA's AP and UPI news wire services; several pieces for magazines and university research, including “If Puget Sound is Falling Down,” about earthquakes in the Pacific NW, "Hippies of Ohio," for Athens Magazine, and “Improving Team Management,” for AIU Magazine; “Office Politics” and “Three Nights of Awesome Splendor,” two formula-written adult humorous fiction stories involving humiliating catfights for a New York City and Internet-based reading company; “Bubbleator 2050,” a science fiction story for “The Crusader” literary magazine of Seattle; a ghost written article which was published in several Deaf Community media about the prevalence of gossip and slander among Deaf People; several other articles, including one for Starbuck's about their version of a coffee-wearing superhero who sports a special self-pouring beverage machine to promote their restaurant, containing a lengthy interview with the device's inventor; "I Wish It Could Have Been Otherwise" and "How a Head Cold Got Me Married," both written for book anthologies in 2003, and both award-winning and favorably criticized stories; and interviews with local and national musical and artistic figures, including blind musician/writer/publisher/author Douglas Bright of Seattle and famed country-western singer Dolly Parton. I was also a Staff Editor and Writer on the Human Imagineering Company's "WebZine." And I have several award winning poems on file with the International Library of Poetry, most of which are Editor's Choice or other approved poems.

I have copy edited multiple websites, am continuously writing and editing text copy for websites, articles and business documents, and have many returning satisfied customers on my clientele list. I was recently hired to write a few short articles per week for an Internet weight loss company as its in-house features contributor, but had to forsake that job due to low pay and boredom. I hereby ask you to consider always paying us what you think we're worth, rather than trying only to "save money." But we will always try to work, as a team and as me separately, within your needed budget.

As stated above, I have been a freelance and contracted manuscript book ghostwriter, copyeditor, proofreader, rewriter, cowriter, coauthor and book author of many published and going to be published books. I don't do script or screen writing lately, as I send that out to capable pros in those fields on our team. One thing we will always do is try to match you with the right professional writer or artist for whatever job or project you need done, and I can usually provide references as needed. However, the following list may not be that up to date when it comes to email addresses, as those are changed so frequently that I cannot keep track of the current addresses of our former clients.

As sample references, please try to contact: larrysangaree@alumni.ufl.edu for fiction based on fact about covert intelligence Caribbean activities; jkjryan5@sbcglobal.net for memoirs concerning politics, civil rights and the FBI; boss@fresh-aurum.com for nonfiction e-book editing and research; poet@politicalpoet.com for medical information non-fiction and poetry book proof reading; manager5.umnitsa@yahoo.com for authoritative texts about children; dave.slain@inlandprinting.com for sales book editing; ISOONBFREE@aol.com for non fiction editing; allynatadero@yahoo.com for how we handle clients (the rest of this list may not be available, as email addresses often change or expire); orandfamily2004@yahoo.com for heavily researched science fiction ghost writing; csanluis@houston.rr.com for adult dark fantasy/science fiction; mp2pi@yahoo.com for fantasy fiction;  vdecampo@hotmail.com for mystery/horror fiction; thomasonmark@hotmail.com for children's chapter book fantasy; joanneparrotta@hotmail.com for self-help nutrition, child-rearing and health literature; wildfeistykitten@juno.com for romantic comedy; scowytr@aol.com for autobiography; and the highly acclaimed and wittily riposte Riccardo Costa at rikfilm@yahoo.com for political comedy in a movie script I edited.  Rik’s scripts have been made into movies by Spike Lee, Franco Zeffirelli, Dino de Laurenti and many other famous film directors. We are planning on having him make the below into a movie script, as soon as we all get our acts together on this.

RECENT DISTINGUISHED AWARDS:

I won a Random House Poet Fellowship Award for 2007:

"Karen, I was extremely delighted with your work, and I feel you deserve this type of recognition. Many people write poetry for years and never obtain the level of artistry that is present in your work. You should be very proud of your accomplishment. We encourage you to keep striving to be the best and leading your local writing community by example." This was sent to me from Noble House publishing company, Office of the Publisher, Nigel Hillary, Poetry Division, Noble House - UK. I've received several awards for my poetry.

However, don't think I'm but a mere poet; my work is simply poetical in its nature. In both 2007 and 2008, I was nominated for Poet of the Year, and I've twice been made a Poetry Ambassador by Poetry.com, for 2007 and 2008. I also recently won two of their "Outstanding Achievements in Poetry" awards. They host "The International Library of Poetry". I was selected to be published in both their 2006 and 2007 poetry anthologies. My poem "Pregnant Because I'm Pregnant" (which won an Editor's Choice award at Poetry.com in 2007) was included, along with "Woes = Two Dozen Bears," which also won an Editor's Choice award for 2007. My poem "You Are NOT Disabled, Too," recently won an Editor's Choice award - this time for 2008.

I have also won two of their Poetry Fellowships, and I've also been nominated for inclusion in their 2007 anthology, "The Best Poems and Poets of 2007." Regarding other poetry companies, my poem "Autumn Leaves Never Die" was accepted into the poetry anthology "Centres of Expression" - published by Noble House in 2007. Two of my poems were accepted for inclusion in the Reese Tyler Poetry Anthology for 2007, and I also won one of their best poetry awards.

It's tricky for me to enter awards contests, due to the greater part of my work supposedly being by other people. I cannot take any credit for most of my work on "others" stories and books. However, some other awards I have won include: many first, second, third place and honorable mention awards for my own short stories and poetry; a first place prize for three of my short stories, which consisted of one year's worth of a showcase display and a radio and Internet promo ad campaign; an honorable mention adult storytelling award from an adult literature company; and two first place awards and three merit badges at Writing.Com for meticulousness, generosity and great writing. In the past, I have also won two American Literary Arts awards for writing and storytelling excellence.

CURRENT NOVEL IN THE WORKS:

 - my first humorous fiction novel - is being prepared for copy editing, rewriting, printing, publishing and distribution. It will be fully distributed in the USA and world-wide once it is completely ready to go.  Soft and hardcover versions will be available at all major bookstores - as well as paperback versions through instant bookstore printing, a terrific new trend - and it will be fully downloadable in PDF format over the Internet. Plans are being slowly formed to make it into either an "indie" motion picture or something more like a major commercial production. I prefer the thought of making it in Canada myself.

EDUCATION:

Varied. 1978/80 - Ohio University of Athens, Ohio - other schools about up to the nineties -  self-determined degree in journalism, fine arts and creative writing. I have attended seven major institutions of higher learning, both on physical campuses and via the WWW, and I've taken several field-related classes. I cotaught a workshop in mass communications a few years back. I'm always in the process of continuing my own education. I also took an Internet-related training course in high-end sales letter writing for multinational corporations, blitzing right through it. I don't usually bother with sales letters though; I prefer working on book manuscripts instead.

PERSONAL WRAP-UP STATEMENT:

When it comes down to computers, writing, editing and the fine or the commercial arts, I feel that I'm largely self-taught. My greatest learning will always be through my own individual efforts. However, I have recently taken classes in both team dynamics and project management, and I feel capable of handling the basics of both project integration and group cooperation. I have lots of knowledge and team-oriented access regarding software, hardware and general "hacking around," and I could always stand to learn more and about virtually anything. And I retain ample knowledge regarding the realities of being a cooperative, vital, organized and inspirational team member.

Really, you should hire me and/or
